About

More prizes than a case o' Cracker Jacks: Graphis, CA, PRINT, HOW, ADDYs galore. Boo-coos of client raves. Thirty-plus years in the trenches. All that stuff.

Picture this. First the manditories: establish the intent, build rapport with the subject, create visual tension between the subject and environment, tweak then over-tweak the light, search the angle that puts the viewer in the frame. Then work it. And work it some more, till you nail the moment. It's all about the moment.

Then let it all fall apart and work it again, establishing then surrendering control, letting the gift of chaos and serendipity play.

What it comes down to is making each photo fresh and new and real. Especially real. Like the heroine in William Gibson's Pattern Recognition who developed an allergic reaction to advertising, viewers simply tune out contrived images and stock photos. So it's all about keepin' it real. Or hyper-real, with the stylized hook that sinks into the viewers eye.

There's more. Twelve years on the Austin Ad Fed Board, twice as president, long experience directing campaign creative and execution for ADDYs, programs, and pro-bono clients like the Hill Country Ride for AIDS and Art From the Streets. With two Ad Club of the Year awards from the 50,000 member American Advertising Federation. So, strong organization and schmoozing skills, plus a deep appreciation of just what goes into making good advertising.

And Big Fun wherever possible. Call to see the books.
